Treatments

Your physiotherapist will complete a full assessment of your injury or physical concern and develop a treatment plan to best suit your needs. Treatment will be initiated during your initial session whenever possible. Following your initial assessment, you will see your therapist for follow up appointments to help you improve in the most efficient manner. Treatments may include the following:

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy involves different forms of direct, hands-on treatment to improve the mobility and function of the joints and soft tissues throughout the body. Our skilled therapists employ a variety of manual techniques including joint mobilization, manual stretching, movement facilitation, soft tissue massage and trigger point release. These, among others, will help to ease pain and restore efficient motion.

IMS/Dry Needling

IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation), also called Dry Needling, uses fine monofilament needles inserted into the trigger point of a muscle. This technique stimulates a natural reflex of the body that helps to lengthen the muscles and obtain an often rapid improvement in mobility and decrease in pain. Many patients find IMS the quickest way to improve their symptoms following an injury, as well as a vital tool on an ongoing basis to help manage chronic pain

Acupuncture

Derived from ancient Chinese medicine, Medical Acupuncture is a needling technique that can provide a gentle way to obtain pain relief from a variety of acute and chronic conditions. Its ability to restore balance to the nervous system and create relaxation make this a very valuable therapeutic tool.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy uses full or partial immersion of the body in water to provide both natural support and resistance to movement. The buoyant environment is ideal for exercising with reduced stress on the joints and tissues which can be done with direct one-on-one physiotherapist interaction if needed. Aquatic exercises can improve strength, improve general fitness, and help reduce pain. Whether you are re-learning your gait pattern or increasing your sports performance, pool exercise has benefits for everyone. Come try our new underwater aquabikes!

Exercise

Movement is the cornerstone to improving your function. Our therapists are highly experienced in developing, monitoring and progressing your therapeutic exercise program in order to obtain the best results for your recovery and improvement. We can develop programs that are specific to you and fit your lifestyle, either for your home, in the gym, or with a focus on the relevant sports performance.

Modalities

Modalities are a versatile treatment option we have available which can be very effective to improve your pain, decrease swelling, improve circulation to injured tissue or even improve control of muscle contraction. Our therapists have years of experience knowing when and how best to apply certain modalities to help your specific condition. Feel free to connect with us to see what combination of treatment options might be right for you.
